Arshdeep Singh is the best alternative to Jasprit Bumrah and Harshit Patel in T20

Asia Cup 2022: Jasprit Bumrah Injury: The main pacers of the Indian team, Harshal Patel and Jasprit Bumrah are currently injured. There are also concerns over their availability for the T20 World Cup. Therefore, management will be forced to look at various options for potential replacements. Former India pacer Dodda Ganesh believes that left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh, who will feature in the Asia Cup, could be a good replacement if the star duo is unavailable. Ganesh believes he can book his Australia berth with a strong showing in the Asia Cup. “From what I heard about Bumrah’s injury and if Arshdeep Singh can deliver in the Asia Cup, he might be seen for the T20 World Cup. It is the team management, who will decide,” Ganesh told InsideSport.

If Hershal is ruled out with a hip injury, Bumrah will be out for the Asia Cup 2022 with back pain. Both players were expected to spearhead India’s pace attack in Australia. No date has been set for the return of the players, which is a matter of concern.

As a result, the team management will look at different options. In the India vs Zimbabwe ODI series, Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur, Avesh Khan, Mohammad Siraj and others will be eager to throw their hat in the ring. Chahar would have been a good bet, but he’s just coming back from injury.

Why would Arshdeep be a good replacement if Harshal and Bumrah miss the Australia flight?

  • He adds variety with left-arm pace
  • Arshdeep proved himself as the top bowler in the death overs as well
  • More than that, he has a good head on his shoulders even under pressure
  • After a good IPL and a recent performance against the West Indies, his confidence has grown
  • He also has the ability to move the ball along with assisting the Australia seamers

However, with Arshdeep Singh ahead of others after his excellent form in the IPL and the recent series against the West Indies, the left-arm pacer has a golden opportunity to fill that slot. He took seven wickets in the last T20I series against West Indies.

“He is a left-arm pacer. He has done really well in IPL and recent international series as well. The best thing about him is that he has very good control. Also, he has age and has proven himself in the IPL against top teams as well. He has delivered for the Indian team. What matters in cricket is performance. He is in good form. Players, who are doing well in current form, should be given a chance,” Ganesh added.
