Asia Cup 2022 Live – Rahul Dravid Covid Positive – In a huge shock for Team India, head coach Rahul Dravid tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday, August 23. The Rohit Sharma-led team has left for Dubai for the upcoming Asia Cup, which is set to begin on August 27. Dravid did not go with the team. Sources have confirmed to InsideSport that Dravid is not touring the UAE with the team, but will join them after he comes back negative for Covid-19. Later BCCI also confirmed it. Dravid was scheduled to leave for Dubai from Bengaluru on Tuesday but was turned back by the Covid-19 development. Lakshmana, who stood by him whenever and wherever he was not present, should perform duties in his absence.
The BCCI is believed to be making all travel arrangements for Laxman, who is in Zimbabwe. The BCCI logistics team is working overtime to ensure this.

Rahul Dravid Tests Covid Positive: The board later confirmed that Dravid also tested positive for Covid-19. Dravid is under the surveillance of BCCI’s medical team.
“Team India head coach Rahul Dravid has tested positive for COVID-19 in a routine test conducted before leaving for the UAE for the Asia Cup 2022,” read the statement.
“Mr. Dravid is under the supervision of the BCCI medical team and has mild symptoms. He will join the team after returning with a negative COVID-19 report. The rest of the team will assemble in the UAE on the 23rd.rd August, 2022.”
This is a huge blow for India as they look to win the Asia Cup for a record eighth time. Dravid was not in the Indian squad that toured Zimbabwe for the 3-match ODI series. In Dravid’s absence, VVS Laxman took over as head coach.
In all likelihood, Laxman will again be announced as a replacement. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and other members of the Indian team have reached the UAE before the start of the tournament.
The Indian team is all set to begin training in Dubai three days ahead of the big match against arch-rivals Pakistan.
Few other players like KL Rahul, Akshar Patel, Avesh Khan, Deepak Hooda will land in Dubai a little later today as they will fly from Harare to Dubai in the evening.
