Garcia entered the tournament as a qualifier and after winning both of her qualifying matches in three sets, she entered the main draw where she defeated three top-10 world-ranked opponents, Maria Sakkari, Aryna Sabalenka and Jessica Pegula, to reach the final. She continued her form in the final by defeating two-time Wimbledon champion Czech Kvitova.

Since returning from a foot injury in May, Garcia has won three events on three different surfaces, on clay in Warsaw, where he beat world number one Iga Suatek, on grass in Bad Homburg and on hard court in Cincinnati.

Garcia dominated the contest from the start as she broke Kwatova’s first service game with a pair of Czech faults. From then on, Garcia built on that momentum as she took a double break over Kvitova to lead 4-0 in the first set. He closed the first set 6-2.

Garcia’s dominance continued in the second set as she broke Kvitova once to lead 2-0. But the 32-year-old took some time off as he needed treatment. Kvitova came back after the break but Garcia continued to work as she won the second set 6-4 to claim her 10th career title.

“It’s hard to believe that it’s been a week since I’m standing here today,” Garcia told the Center Court crowd. “Just happiness. Every win is very important. Every title is very special, [WTA] 250, 1000, it is always very difficult to describe. It doesn’t happen often, and you really have to enjoy it. I’m really grateful for this great week of tennis, and to win another title, it’s very special.”

With a total of 33 match wins on the year, only Iga Suatec (50), Simona Halep (39) and Once Jabeur (38) have more wins than Garcia this season.
