Paul O’Donovan and Fintan McCarthy did it again, winning gold in LM2x at the European Championships.

The West Cork pair continued their run of success, adding more silverware to their collection.

O’Donovan and McCarthy made their usual start, placing in the middle of the field. The second half of their race saw each crew steadily find forward momentum.

The Swiss double went out hard, leading 1 kilometer and holding onto the Irish coming into the last quarter. In the end, they couldn’t keep up with the Cork pair, crossing the line and falling back into third position.

Aoife Casey (UCC RC) missed out on a medal by just 1.4 seconds in the LW1x final.

The PR2 Mix2x of Katie O’Brien (Galway RC) and Steven McGowan (Galway RC) had a strong showing in their A final, finishing in fourth position.

In an extremely tight race, the lightweight women’s double of Margaret Kremen and Lydia Heaphy finished fourth just outside the medals.
